Low Man's Joe: HOME
“Sometimes a band has to take a step backward in order to take several steps forward.” This is how Low Man’s Joe explains their brief absence from the Houston music scene.
Shortly after their arrival on the scene in 2008, LMJ quickly became known for their edgy, mainstream rock sound that, according to the Houston Chronicle, is “a throwback to the days before adjectives like ‘alt’ and ‘indie.’” Their catchy songs and infectious onstage energy quickly gained them a loyal fan base, which eventually led to opening slots for such bands as L.A. Guns, King’s X and four sets at the Rock the Bayou festival.
LMJ released their debut CD Where I Stand in 2009, which the Houston Chronicle described as “a 10-track collection of fist-pumping, sing-along rockers…an astonishing accomplishment for a first CD.” The band followed up with a series of impressive accomplishments, including first-place wins in both the House of Blues Battle of the Bands and the VH1 Battle of the Bands, and Where I Stand being named on the Houston Chronicle’s “Top Houston Discs of 2009” list.
In 2010, LMJ continued to build its following with performances as direct support for national acts at the House of Blues, performing at the Monster Jam event at Reliant Stadium and being a featured band for the Discovery Green Concert Series.
In 2011, however, the band took a brief hiatus to regroup. Singer Bret Gyrich and drummer John Feldmann knew that in order to continue the high-intensity performances for which LMJ had become known, a few changes had to be made. After an intensive search and numerous auditions to find band mates with the same goals and passion for performing, bassist Jason Beard and guitarist Jason Joachim joined the LMJ family.
Now, Low Man’s Joe is a band on a mission – to take Houston by storm…again! LMJ has reemerged with all the same fire and passion in their live performances that captured audiences’ attention three years ago. The chemistry between original and new members is evident, both onstage and in their songwriting. LMJ is currently booking shows and connecting with fans, both old and new. They are also continuing to work on new material and planning a new studio release for 2013.
So if you haven’t seen Low Man’s Joe live, make sure to catch an upcoming show! And if it’s been a while, trust us, you ain’t seen nothing yet!!!
